Connect to Library Resources

Alumni have a number of options for accessing UBC Library resources.

alumni UBC provides free access to the EBSCO database. UBC alumni can access this directly from the app or from this website.

UBC Library has also secured Alumni access to many e-resources. Details are available here. Alumni with a CWL will be able to access these resources using OpenAthens. For Alumni without a CWL, please contact the Library to request an OpenAthens account.

To access other library e-resources, Alumni are invited to visit a UBC Library branch to obtain guest access. Please check the Library's website for COVID-19-related service and access updates.

Most Alumni will have a CWL that they can use to log in to OpenAthens. Users with an OpenAthens access account must initiate access for each browser session by logging in at:

  • Scroll down and click on "Login to OpenAthens", follow the prompts to continue, and enter your OpenAthens account information using your account name and password (do not use the "find your institution" search).
  • At the top of the page, click on the link to the UBC Library website and start searching. You will remain logged in for the duration of your browser session.

Emeriti may log in to UBC Library e-resources via OpenAthens using CWL. More information on Library services for Emeriti is available
