Citation Management Tools

UBC Library provides overall guidance on how to select and use a variety of citation managers. Some citation managers allow you to add a level of customization and efficiency by adding details about the authentication (login) system at UBC Library.

RefWorks

UBC Library provides access to RefWorks, which requires a custom login to access the product. At this time, the login is not integrated with OpenAthens. View UBC Library's RefWorks Guide for more information.

Mendeley

Mendeley does not require any OpenAthens configuration. Accounts are not managed by UBC Library, but guidance on use of this product is available on the UBC Library Citation Management Guide.

Zotero

Zotero is a browser based application that has an option to configure with OpenAthens. Within your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc) you should have an option to view Add Ons, Extensions, Preferences, or similar.

Choose to enable proxy redirection, and if given the option, clear both 'Automatically associate new hosts' and 'Automatically convert hyphens to dots'. Go to the proxies section and replace any existing content with the following: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/ubc.ca?url=

For best results, sign in to OpenAthens first.

Accounts are not managed by UBC Library, but guidance on the use of this product is available on the UBC Library Citation Management Guide.

Endnote

UBC Library provides access to EndNote Basic a free, web-based version of the EndNote citation manager. EndNote Basic does not require any OpenAthens configuration.

Accounts for EndNote are not managed by UBC Library, but guidance on this product is available on the UBC Library Citation Management Guide
