COVID-19 Student Emergency Funding

The government of Canada has launched the Canadian Emergency Student Benefit for students who do not qualify for the Canadian Emergency Relief Benefit or Employment Insurance due to loss of income because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instructions for applying and eligibility are available here. This benefit supplies a payment of $1,250 or $2,000 for each 4-week period from May to August 2020 depending on your eligibility. Following the steps on the government website is the best way to ensure you apply correctly.

UBC has a list of COVID-19 resources available for students with links at the bottom to funding opportunities and emergency financial help.

All student loan borrowers will automatically have their loan repayments and interest suspended until September 30, 2020.
