Citizen Science Tools Workshop
Citizen science is the practice of public participation and collaboration in scientific research to increase scientific knowledge. Through citizen science, people share and contribute to data monitoring and collection programs. (Definition from National Geographic)
Are you interested in citizen science? Register for our workshop on Wednesday, September 23rd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This workshop will introduce Citizen Science as a concept, go over notable projects to get involved with, and introduce common tools for getting started as a citizen scientist.
This event is part of UBC Library's Science Literacy Week 2020 programming.
Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites. This workshop is for total beginners.

- ZooniverseZooniverse is a fantastic access point to find projects you are interested in! Zooniverse currently has 89 active projects for you to browse and participate in.
- CitSci.orgCitSci.org allows people to create their own projects and request to join others projects; projects are primarily focused on environmental observation.
- hypothes.isIf you are interested in annotating text for others, this is the place to go.
- eBirdeBird data document bird distribution, abundance, habitat use, and trends through checklist data. They also provide birders with a suite of tools to improve the birding experience including information about bird hotspots,
- The Great Backyard Bird CountThis 4 day bird count takes place every February. It was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds.
