A national census is conducted every five years by Statistics Canada to give to provide a statistical portrait of the country.
NOTE: In August of 2017, the government announced Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada would be dissolved into Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.
