Using UBC Library
Connecting to the Library's resources remotely is via Open Athens.

- MEDLINE (Ovid) This link opens in a new windowPremier biomedical database with over 30 million journal articles in the life sciences. Similar to Pubmed in content, this Ovid interface facilitates structured searching and allows editing of search histories.
- Medline Guided ExerciseThis tutorial gives step by step instructions for each stage of a structured search. Use it as a "guide on the side" - follow along, or build your own!
- Ovid Medline TutorialsThese short 2-3 minute tutorials demonstrate how to search Medline in the Ovid interface.
- PubMed (1946 - present) This link opens in a new windowPremier database containing over 30 million references to journal articles in life sciences with a focus on biomedicine. Freely available and includes MEDLINE. This link goes to the version with UBC elink.
- CINAHL - Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature This link opens in a new windowKey database in nursing and allied health.
- CINAHL Guided ExerciseThis tutorial gives step by step instructions for each stage of a structured search. Use it as a "guide on the side" - follow along, or build your own!
- CINAHL TutorialsThese modules of 2-3 minutes each demonstrate the different search techniques and strategies for effective searching in CINAHL on the Ebsco platform. These techniques are transferable to other databases, both on the Ebsco platform and through other search engines.
- EMBASE (Ovid) This link opens in a new windowInternational (but European-focused) biomedical database with strengths in drug-related and rehabilitation sciences subjects.
