Climate Action Week

UBC Library is partnering with the BC Library Association and other BC Libraries on Climate Action Week (Friday Sept 23 - Thursday Sept 29, 2022) to focus on the climate change related challenges and emergencies facing our communities.

The theme of this first UBC Library Climate Action Week is inspired by the UBC's Climate Action Plan 2030, the Zero Emission University initiative, the UBC Sustainability Hub, and all of the research, education, and outreach from UBC students, staff, and faculty to decrease scope 3 emissions.

Visit our other pages for events and resources of all kinds related to understanding and taking action on air travel emissions, commuting, and food and food systems.

About Climate Action Week

Libraries across the sector can use Climate Action Week to coordinate action on the climate change related challenges and emergencies facing our communities. CAW encourages libraries to host climate programs, displays, and other initiatives as people all around the world participate in Global Climate Actions and prepare for the annual United Nations Climate Change COP.

About the Logo

The Climate Action Week logo looks a bit different to everyone, but generally represents the haze of wildfire smoke against the sun, sunshine reflecting off of the water, heat distortions rising during a heat wave, or for some people even fish or whales! The colours are inspired by the #ShowYourStripes data visualization showing changes in global annual temperatures from 1850-present.
