Introduction to finding articles

In this module, you'll learn how to find articles published in journals, magazines, and newspapers.

- First we'll learn how to locate a specific article in the Library's collection.
- Then we'll look at how to find articles on a topic.

Every issue of a daily newspaper, a weekly magazine, a quarterly journal contains individual items or pieces called articles.

Each article generally has a distinct title and author. In order to accurately identify a particular article, we need to know:

  • the title and author of the article
  • the title of the journal (or magazine or newspaper) in which it was published
  • the date and volume number of the journal
  • the page numbers on which the article appeared

All this information is called a citation or bibliographic reference.
