NRSG 120: Introduction to Nursing Research

This guide is designed for the evidence exploration group assignment in NRSG 120: Introduction to Nursing Research at UBC's Okanagan Campus, Winter 2020.  In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to identify a question of interest, conduct a systematic (albeit limited) review of the literature by searching Medline and CINAHL, write a brief background of why your topic is important, and explore some findings related to your topic.

Recommended work plan:

  1. Create RefWorks Account
  2. Search Medline (EBSCO) for your topic using MeSH (change display to include abstracts)
  3. Combine your Medline results with methodological search filters (qualitative and quantitative)
  4. Review and select at least 5 articles and upload to RefWorks
  5. Search CINAHL using CINAHL Headings (change display to include abstracts)
  6. Apply limiters of Research Articles & Exclude Medline Records
  7. Review and select at least 5 articles and upload to RefWorks
