In this guide...

This guide is designed for the evidence exploration group assignment in NRSG 120: Introduction to Nursing Research at UBC's Okanagan Campus, Winter 2023. In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to identify a research question of interest, conduct a systematic (albeit limited) review of the literature by searching Medline and CINAHL, write a brief background of why your topic is important, and explore some findings related to your topic.

Instructor: Rishma Chooniedass

Recommended work plan:

  1. Spend time developing your research question (using the PICO format can help!)
  2. Search Medline (EBSCO) for your topic using MeSH / keywords (change results display to be sorted by relevance and to include abstracts)
  3. Combine your Medline results with methodological search filters (qualitative and quantitative)
  4. Review and select at least 2 articles
  5. Search CINAHL using CINAHL Headings / keywords (change display to be sorted by relevance and to include abstracts)
  6. Apply limiters of Research Articles & Exclude Medline Records
  7. Review and select at least 2 articles
