Coming into Force - Note: A new Act does not necessarily have the force of law until it "comes into force" on its commencement date. Start by looking at the relevant federal or provincial Interpretation Act provisions regarding the "date of commencement" of statutes in that jurisdiction. Ask a law librarian for help if you need to determine whether an Act is in force.
