Industry Codes

Some market research databases and websites organize business information using industry codes. The two industry classification systems you will come across most often are NAICS and SIC.

Example NAICS codes:

52 - Finance and insurance

521 Monetary authorities - central bank
522 Credit intermediation and related activities
523 Securities, commodity contracts, and other financial investment and related activities
524 Insurance carriers and related activities
526 Funds and other financial vehicles (Canada only)
