This guide provides resources for studying the financial services sector, which is broadly made up of four sub-sectors: banking, asset management, insurance, and venture capital.

Within these subsectors, the industry includes banks, trust and loan companies, credit unions and caisses populaires, life and health insurance companies, property and casualty insurance companies, securities dealers and exchanges, mutual fund companies and distributors, finance and leasing companies, as well as independent financial advisors, pension fund managers and independent insurance agents and brokers.
