Finding Information Quickly via Summon

Finding articles and books in Summon

Summon is UBC Library's one-stop search tool. This video "UBC Library's Summon Search: Basic" gives an overview of how to use keywords to search journals, e-books, digitized newspapers, and much more. It also provides tips on how to save the results. http://youtu.be/HShUYoiGPE8?list=PL6F68B2A91B92697E

Accessing Electronic Resources

There are two ways to access to electronic resources from off campus:

  1. Use off-campus access using EZproxy

  • Start searching from the library main page. The first link-out to a licensed resource will automatically request authentication via EZproxy OR from the UBC Library main page use the "LOGIN" drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the grey bar and sign in with your CWL.

  1. Use the Library Access Browser Extension

  • Anyone can download the free Library Access Browser Extension. With the extension, you can start from anywhere on the internet; no need to begin at the Library main page. The Extension detects when you are on a website that contains content licensed by UBC Library. A pop-up window will appear with either a "GET ACCESS" button or directions on how to access the resource. Authorized Users will be routed via EZproxy for authentication.
