The National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH) is a fantastic place to start researching a topic related to Indigenous health sciences. You can search their publications on many different topics here.
The NCCIH is a national Indigenous organization established in 2005 by the Government of Canada and funded through the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis public health renewal and health equity through knowledge translation and exchange.

For many Indigenous peoples, physical health is not separable from mental, spiritual, and emotional health, nor is it separable from other wholistic factors, like relationships, community, nationhood, land, and family. When searching for information on Indigenous health, many resources will incorporate all of these dimensions of health, rather than focus on one narrow topic or element.
This guide has grouped information by topic, but each of these topics are interrelated and connected.
It is important to locate yourself and the community/communities that you are working with or learning about. Different nations have different protocols, histories, strengths, and spiritualities. What is true of one community may not be true of another. There is no single Indigenous approach to health and healing. For resources and support also see our Decolonization & Anti-Racism LibGuide.
