Books Available Through Private Collections

The John Sanderson Collection

The books that comprise this special collection were collected and donated to Mark Turin and Sara Shneiderman in 2014 by John Sanderson, a former Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Rajasthan, India. Many of the books in the collection were purchased from the estate of Ferdinand E. Okada, a scholar who had been active in Nepal from the 1950s onwards, through a second-hand book seller in New York city.

The books were donated without restriction and form the basis of a non-circulating collection held in the Himalaya Program office in the Institute of Asian Research at UBC-Vancouver.
