Allan’s work includes supporting ongoing community initiatives and leading new ones, focusing on community engagement with historically underrepresented groups, piloting IKBLC’s AskAway coordination, subject liaison librarian with the School of Information, and developing a new speaker series with the support of the Peña Family Foundation.

Indigenous Programs and Services Librarian

Kayla is Metis from Treaty Six Territory and is the Indigenous programs and services librarian for the Xwi7xwa Library. Along with her colleagues at X̱wi7x̱wa, she works to provide Indigenous communities with culturally relative services and programs on the UBC campus and beyond. As an embedded community engagement librarian at the UBC Learning Exchange in the Downtown Eastside (DTES), Nick works with community members and non-profit organizations to improve access to scholarly research. Partner With Us

Are you a community member or organization and are interested in partnering with the UBC Library to develop an event (e.g. exhibit, workshop, speaker series, etc.)? Please contact a Community Engagement Librarian to schedule a consultation.

Here are some examples of our community engagement events, programs, and initiatives:

  • Seed Lending Library, a partnership between UBC Library and UBC Farm
  • Ink Dance, a partnership between the Canadian Society for Asian Arts (CSAA) and Asian Library
  • 50 Years of Sole: A History of Fluevog: Honouring a Vancouver Icon, a partnership between The David Lam Management Research Library, Canaccord Learning Commons, Rare Books and Special Collections, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, and John Fluevog Shoes
