About this Guide
Welcome. This is a guide to information sources of interest to students in Econ 490. It contains guides to working with a variety of data software packages, sources and tips for finding scholarly articles for a literature review, and a list of important databases, repositories, and key data sets. There is also information on properly citing the data that you will use.

Key Databases
- EconLit This link opens in a new windowCore literature on global economics /American Economic Association Use for: researching scholarly topics in economics, business and public management.
- Google Scholar This link opens in a new windowWorld's largest academic search engine providing free searching to a full range of scholarly literature (ie. peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, pre-prints, abstracts, technical reports).
Library Software
- Virtual LabsThe virtual computer labs are a way to get online access to software installed on library computers. Log in with your CWL to access a virtual desktop with software such as Stata, StatTransfer, and more. Please log out after use.
- Public Computers and SoftwareUse this guide to the computers and software available at UBC Library to determine which virtual lab space to use. Please note that not all software is available virtually.
