Historical photographs can be found in the collections of Rare Books and Special Collections and University Archives. There are three ways to search:
1. Archival collections (fonds) containing photographs can be found by using the library catalogue. Using the Guided Keyword Search, specify "Archival/mixed collections" as "Type" and by adding the term "photographs" to your keywords.

This will result in a list of collections; from the catalogue record, look for the "Inventory" link on the right hand side to view the finding aid for the collection.
2. The B.C. Historical Photograph Catalogue contains approximately 2,000 records describing ca. 200,000 photographs. One catalogue record may describe one photograph, or a grouping or album of photographs. To access the catalogue:
1. From the UBC Library homepage, click on "Catalogues"
2. Click on "Archives, bibliographies and reading rooms."
3. Choose "BC Historical Photos" from Location
4. Search using keywords.
3. Archival collections often contain a variety of formats, including photographs and negatives. You will find records of photographs within such collections by searching the finding aids at Rare Books and Special Collections or University Archives.
