Transportation engineering, a sub-discipline of civil engineering, is the science of the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. Aspects include: planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of air, water, railway, highway, and urban transportation; management of roads, bridges, and transit systems; traffic management technology; and environmental and economic aspects of transportation.
