Catalogues Raisonnes
Catalogues Raisonnes are books containing all the works of a given artist. They typically include images of the works discussed, as well as information about their size, condition, etc. They also usually include a brief introductory statement about the artist. Search for these by artist name, ex: "Picasso" and "catalogue raissone."
Exhibition Catalogues
Exhibition catalogues received before 1985 are listed in the Exhibition Card Catalogue in Art + Architecture + Planning, level 3 of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. Check this catalogue by name of museum, artist, or under the art form. Catalogues received since 1985 are listed online. Small exhibition catalogues are filed in the vertical files in Art + Architecture + Planning.
Vertical Files
The vertical files in Art + Architecture + Planning contain newspaper clippings, pamphlets, small exhibition catalogues and biographical information on artists, tribal names, museums, technologies, and organizations. These files are a good source for information on local artists. For a list of similar files in other libraries in Canada, check by name of the artist in Artists in Canada.
