This guide lists resources for researching nonprofit organizations and the nonprofit sector for academic or for career-related research. It has been created for business students, and has a management focus, but it may also be valuable to students in other disciplines.

To help you form an effective research strategy, the business librarians have developed the following guide:

International Classification of Non-profit Organizations

The International Classification of Non-profit Organizations (ICNPO) on Statistics Canada is recommended in the United Nations (UN) Handbook on Non-profit Institutions in the Systems of National Accounts. This will help you determine what type of non-profit organization you are working on belongs to.
